Every tree has a story, this is ours…

The Northern Wood Co began in late 2019 in Newcastle upon Tyne by Ryan & Jack, with us launching our first set of candles during the 2020 lockdowns. After a short period, we paused and decided to re-work the business, adding more scents and new product lines, including non-fragrance items, relaunching later that year.

Moving to Northumberland in 2024, stocking stores and doing regular markets allowed The Northern Wood Co to grow to what you see today. Our move to Northumberland brings us closer to what inspires us as a business, nature and the environment.

Our Products

Our entire collection is made from sustainable products, vegan and cruelty-free. All of our candles and wax melts are made with a rapeseed & coconut wax blend, while our woods are sourced from sustainable sources. All of our products are developed, tested, created, packed, and shipped by Ryan and Jack from Northumberland.

As the environment is extremely important, our products are stored and delivered in eco-friendly packaging – no plastic. See how we’re investing back into the environment with our packaging here.

Our philosophy

To create a simple, eco-conscious range for a more focused and calmer life. We aim to create the perfect mood, whatever day of the week or time of year with as little impact to the earth as possible.

Whether that’s using a scented candle and taking a moment to relax or simply enjoying making your mark when writing with one our pens, we apply our philosophy to all aspects of our small business.
